Now that I live in Berkeley, I currently teach yoga at ClifBar Headquarters in Emeryville, CA. ClifBar leads the way in progressive workplace environments. Employees are provided a gym for working out, two yoga rooms and a dozen classes a week to choose from. Teaching yoga at ClifBar for the past two years has allowed me to sync with the social fabric of a large progressive company.
I was overjoyed when I learned Anneke Faas is on the roster at ClifBar, and she is a certified expert no less! When attending her sessions in the middle of the workday, her attentiveness to everyone’s current condition makes for a powerfully healing class. I always end the practice feeling uplifted and ready to take on the rest of the afternoon. Her ability to judge people on when to push and when to accept limits is remarkable, and so appreciated. I am lucky and blessed to have an opportunity to train with Anneke at least once a week, and am even more thankful when she comes in for other classes so I can train more. –Iggy Svoboda, ClifBar & Company
Clients.
I am sensitive to company downtimes, using that time to teach more challenging sequences–I am also sensitive to when there are a lot of events and deadlines during which employees may need a more restorative practice. The ClifBar Employees value their weekly class and take the sessions very seriously as a means to reduce stress and promote wellbeing at work.
I know there are numerous progressive companies here in Berkeley, Oakland, and the broader Bay Area. I’d love the opportunity to teach at more amazing places in this vibrant and productive area of the country.
I love this class. It is one of my favorite classes here at ClifBar. Anneke’s knowledge is of yoga is exceptional. I love the attention we get in class; it helps us achieve correct positioning. Anneke’s advice is on-point, and her directions and descriptions make it easy for us to follow along. I feel not only stronger but more flexible; class is challenging but not discouraging. When I am tired, I feel more awake after class. Thank you so much for everything I have learned so far! -Kim Brown, ClifBar & Company
Experience.
I have extensive experience teaching yoga in the workplace atmosphere. At the beginning of my yoga teaching I was hired by an Alternative High School in Denver to teach a weekly hour long class to the teachers in their gymnasium. The teachers looked forward to the weekly class and it gave me a special look into the value of yoga at the workplace. Not only did individuals feel better after each class–it also created a rapport within the faculty that was supportive, non-judgmental, and genuinely interested in the well-being of their colleagues.
Anneke has been a phenomenal support for me. Her patience has allowed me to learn different poses that have benefited my insomnia and other issues. My coworkers and I love her classes because of her thorough teaching style and her step-by-step methods, which are both helpful for yoga students of all levels of experience. -Esper Nepomuceno-Wong, ClifBar & Company
Living in New York City also gave me unique experiences helping many different companies maintain wellness through yoga. From a film editing crew in lower Manhattan to an architecture firm in Chinatown, I spent my three years in New York teaching at various workplace venues. I am proficient in adapting quickly to workplace social energies, assessing physical problems, and instructing a comprehensive asana class where all individuals are benefited.
Anneke is a fantastic teacher. I learned so much at my very first-ever yoga class, and feel excited to come back and learn and practice more. -Jill Gidlund
